The Only Way is Fish

Oh FFS!!!

**********************************************
A fish and chip shop in a copyright row with the makers of ITV show The Only Way is Essex has been given more time to change its branding.

The Only Way is Fish, in Ongar, was told by Lime Pictures its name infringed the show's trademarks.

Co-owner Kevin Gibbons accused the company of being "a big fish controlling what we do" and said it should pay for any change.

The company said it had extended a deadline but would not comment further.

The Fyfield Road takeaway was told by letter on 2 May it had 14 days to change its branding.

Lime Pictures claimed the shop had "copied our logo without permission" and illegally used the show's "marks" on its Facebook page.

Totally agree.

Also in what way does it harm 'The only way is Essex'? If I owned the chippy I'd say "see you in court" and hope common sense prevailed.

The TV company really need to grow up. They sound like they're run by five year olds tbh.

I have a friend who until recently was self employed, running his own PC upgrade/repair business called 'Easy Upgrades'. I remember about 10 years ago he told me he'd received a rude and demanding letter from the EasyJet group of companies insisting he change his company name. It seems that at the time, EasyJet had compiled a list of all businesses with 'Easy' in the name and sent them the same letter.

Ridiculous. Needless to say, my friend ignored it, and nothing came of it.
