The Red Balloon was made in the mid 50's. I wouldn't say it was weird as such, very creative.

I did like Repulsion from the mid 60's

That one passed me by Dolls.

Looking at the box of DVDs sitting behind the computer, a couple of others
Barton Fink
Event Horizon
Jacobs Ladder
The Ninth Configuration
and of course
Altered States

I find short animation films - sketched or in claymation - are more successful, probably because it is difficult for real actors to accurately portray the pretense of the abstract scenario, for viewers to detach themselves from reality for the full duration of the movie and the lack of a budget that can create the weirdness

Anything by David Firth for example, Salad Fingers, Dog of Man etc

Wow they've passed me by CH.. I must admit I'm not a film buff like years ago,my OH and me would go to cinema for the whole afternoon/evening,usually west end and see about 3 or 4 films.. :)

Not much info into the French film Wages of Sin which is a fifties film.

You can see most online, without breaking the law (too much). How weird do you you want to see?
Owing to the work schedule and an ever decreasing attention span, 15 minute offerings have become my usual cup of tea.
