I can't believe there's no thread on this!

Saw it yesterday, after waiting NINETEEN YEARS or something stupid. And I know it's been dividing the critics a bit, but I loved it. I shan't spoil anything, but... yeah, it's a proper Indiana Jones movie. And it has a prolonged fight/chase sequence that's as good as those in the first three films.

I think the people who hated it (four of us went yesterday, three of us loved it and the other one thought it was the worst film she'd ever seen...) forgot to take their "serious" head off before going in.

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't a great film, and for Steven Spielberg it was a poor film imo.
I think the ton of cgi effects undermined its impact a bit. I read or heard somewhere that Spielberg was going to use traditional pre-cgi effects techniques, and I wish he had stuck to this idea. All the cgi made everything look either too easy or too unbelievable.
Don't be put off though - it's a very enjoyable film.

We enjoyed the film a lot.

Not a great film as ThinBoy says, but fun and it tied up a few loose ends which was satisfying.
My only gripe was there wasn't enough quiet/dialog between the action set pieces so that the story was stronger and also to help with contrast. Something Speilberg has always excelled in when you think about his great films.
