I was watching telly on Friday night - an unusual occurence - and Top Gear was on... and I was delighted to hear a piece of Sufjan Stevens music being played for the test drive sequence!
He's getting some recognition at last, also being on the soundtrack of Little Miss Sunshine! :yippee:

It was an instrumental piece called The Black Hawk War, or, How to Demolish an Entire Civilization and Still Feel Good About Yourself in the Morning, or, We Apologize for the Inconvenience but You're Going to Have to Leave Now, or, 'I Have Fought the Big Knives and Will Continue to Fight Them Until They Are Off Our Lands!'
which, despite the title, is quite a short tune from the album Illinois.
It's here: http://raisad.imeem.com/music/3hmp9IOv/ ... _hawk_war/

Here are some more songs from the web:

(both from the album Michigan)

(from Illinois)

When will he tour the UK ???

I love his music. It's new as well as strangely familiar somehow...

A couple or 3 or 4 songs from the Illinois album:

Concerning the UFO Sightings at Highland, Illinois

John Wayne Gacy Jr.

about the infamous serial killer.

The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades is Out to Get Us!

And one of 2 songs from the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack -
Chicago:

Illinoise's superb. It seems to drag on a bit towards the end, maybe could have shortened it by a couple of songs but a great record nonetheless.

Foo foo. Let's all foo foo.

I tend to agree with you there. I'd be happy if it ended after The Predatory Wasp. But I reckon it may be that towards the end of the album I just reach overload and can't take any more!

There are actually 2 tracks that I don't particularly like - Jacksonville and They Are Night Zombies.

BTW, you can listen to some of the album here in this David Garland interview:
