Weather is once again the main problem today, earliest launch time would be 13:20 but that does not seem likely at this point.

Looks like they are targeting 14:30 but they are are ready to start the 4 minute count at short notice if there is a break in the weather before.

Mornin' :)

I'm about to start some kitchen DIY in a minute but I'll keep running into the room to check the thread and the ZBC coverage

I thought it was goign to tip over when it first left the pad. perhaps some frantic gimbling going on?

I was also surprised to see the condom shaped payload twist right round when the booster stopped and came free.

That looked good, they were worried about vibration but it looked stable from on board

This was only a test for the first stage, the second stage was empty, in the actual rocket that second stage would have a rocket to keep it going forwards. The top bit will have just had a freefall to the sea the first stage had the parachutes they wanted to test

I wonder why they didn't test the second stage at the same time?

That's the next step and at least a year away, the hardest bit of a launch is getting it to the orbit, that's when the most power is needed and when the greatest strain is put on the rocket so it was important to test the first stage to confirm they had got over the vibration problems.
