Space Shuttle: Good Grief loved to have been there !

Just watched that Dolls on the Beeb website. End of an era :(
Hope they find a cheaper way to get into space. I can see many of us living on other planets in the future, this one's filling up too rapidly, we'll need to be elsewhere in future. Our kiddies have an interesting future ahead of them :splif:

According to NASA they're gonna have to sort out the radiation issue before men go beyond low earth orbit ....


June 24, 2005: Space beyond low-Earth orbit is awash with intense radiation from the Sun and from deep galactic sources such as supernovas. Astronauts en route to the Moon and Mars are going to be exposed to this radiation, increasing their risk of getting cancer and other maladies. Finding a good shield is important.

Not cheap to start with, but harnessing the solar energy from any Lagrange point around any planet within the asteroid belt will provide enough energy for the jumps.
