Privatisation of trips to the Moon!

Looks like the private sector wants to develop trips to the moon. Nearly a billion dollars a trip though.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-20540172

"One of the last men to set foot on the Moon has said that private enterprise will be the driving force for a return to the lunar surface.

Harrison Schmitt told the BBC that governments are "too inefficient" to send humans back to the Moon.

Mr Schmitt's comments come on the 40th anniversary of Nasa's last manned mission to the Moon, Apollo 17.

The veteran astronaut said that companies would soon embark on a new commercially-driven space race."

great stuff, but according to NASA, they'll have to get over the problem of deadly space radiation first....

Yeah. radiation and space sickness are a bit of concern. This should have been done years ago and for much less. Fly to the space station, get a feel for that, then get yer butt to the moon and build an installation there. Repeat and rinse :splif:

Could have been colonised years ago. Then you move on to Mars and do the same thing. Take a while admittedly but that's what's gotta happen............
