Saw this on the news earlier. Bet there were a few people crapping themselves when they saw that coming towards them.

Scary shit. One day we'll get hit by a bigger one, the close call one tonight is about the size of a mountain I'm told.
Wonder how many hit the Moon instead of us? :chin:

A Welsh mountain perhaps, it's about 140foot long.

There could be another one tomorrow for all we know, based on what's happened in Russia.

Yes, they can't spot em if they come from the direction of the sun. I heard some chap on the radio earlier who seemed rather less than sure we'd be able to do much even if we knew about a big 'un.

The bigger one went sailing past tonight, not even hitting any satellites. :):

Look up the Prophecy of the Popes. The next pope is called Peter The Roman and will be the Last one.

Horizon special about meteorites etc tonight. Though I doubt if it will mention anything about Popes. :):

SCIENTIFIC DOCUMENTARY: A Horizon Special
On: BBC HD (102) & BBC2
Date: Sunday 3rd March 2013 (starting in 5 hours and 42 minutes)
Time: 21:00 to 22:00 (1 hour long)

The Truth About Meteors.
Series exploring topical scientific issues. On a bright, cold morning on 15th February 2013, a meteorite ripped across the skies above the Ural mountains in Russia, distintegrating into three pieces and exploding with the force of 20 Hiroshimas. It was a stark reminder that the Earth's journey through space is fraught with danger. A day later another much larger 14,3000 tonne asteroid, passed within just 17,000 miles of the Earth. Presented by Professor Iain Stewart, this film explores what meteorites and asteroids are, where they come from, the danger they pose, and the role they have played in Earth's history.
