That does seem a close shave.

I hope we're developing something to knock these things off course for when a sizeable asteroid comes our way.

I managed to get the DVD from a charidee shop last week, unopened for 50p :thumb:

In the past year I've also found the original 'The Time Machine', 'The Fly' and 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth' , plus a shedload of Hammer/similar horror classics.

Classics all :splif: I hope you had the decency to get "The Devil Rides Out"? One of Hammers better efforts :splif:
Oh, and Quatermass and the Pit needs to be part of any collection.

Propaganda themed films are still going on. "Zero Dark Thirty" is a classic modern propaganda film about a fictional event. All formulaic these days though with no realcreativity that you had back then.

Quatermass and the Pit was one of the first in my collection of DVDs. I don't think I've seen the Devil Rides Out though.
Today I managed to find PuppetMaster 1 and 2 for a pound. :thumb:

Looks OK, but Dennis Wheatley has many flaws in his writing, so I've never got into collecting similar, though I did find/buy 'To the Devil A Daughter' a few months ago (sealed in a 3 for a pound offer)

Anyhow, I am always out looking for some early Peter Cushing DVDs (the two Doctor Who films are at the front of my collection), and anything with Vincent Price (Dr Phibes and similar is up there).

Fuckers, they've rebooted it

Is that the Phibes where he drips some gooey stuff onto a woman while she's asleep, then unleashes some insects and they eat the woman's face off? What a great idea for a death scene :)

I think Hammer acted a bit freely with the Wheatley novel :) and any film that actually shows you Satan (The Goat of Mendes, in this movie) is alright by me :splif:

Quatermass and the Pit showed the devil as a giant locust, that they earthed with a crane.

I did have Altered States, but a 'friend' borrowed it and never gave it back.

- altered somewhat.

The Horror Channel has very few good films, there is a hell of a lot of crap to sift through.
