No idea what TinyPrick is. Might be a rogue app - try deleting it and reinstalling it.

I've been offered an unwanted iPod, 6th generation. Unused Christmas present.
Don't know the memory size but it comes with accessories.
I had a quick look online and it seems to be a phone without sim slot, so it might replace the iPad I have which stopped upgrades last year (9.something), though I might go blind looking at the 4inch screen.

Is it worth the money, they are asking £100 and it looks everything they say.
Are there clone devices about of this device ?

An iPod Touch is almost an iPhone without the SIM slot. You've probably been offered an iPod Touch as opposed to an iPod (which was the older, classic music player with a hard drive typically).

What's the product number on the back casing of the iPod? Is it A1574? If so, it'll definitely be a 6th gen iPod Touch.

If it's running iOS 10, to check the memory size, go to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > Manage Storage. Add up the Used + Available numbers to get the approx GB size of the memory.

It _much_ easier if you use iTunes on your PC/Mac to manage the device. The Summary screen in iTunes will tell you everything you need to know about the device and it'll take care of updating it for you.

The price seems good for a brand new iPod Touch. Even the 16GB version is currently selling for £179 at Argos.

However, I doubt you could realistically use it as an iPad replacement. A 4-inch screen is simply too small for web stuff.

Thanks. I was assuming I could cast what I might need to the main TVs in the house with chrome cast, so I won't have to bother looking directly.
I won't get to see the unit until Monday for the absolute spec but you are right, it is the 'touch' version.

If it is as I think, I can offload the iPad gen2 (A1416) onto the other half.

Things really come into their own when you have the Apple ecosystem. If you have an Apple TV you can mirror whatever is on your iPhone/iPod/iPad natively to your telly via the Apple TV. This uses Apple's Airplay which is built into iOS.

You also get the benefit of things like handover, again natively, where you can see messages and take calls on any of your Apple devices if your iPhone is out of reach.

However, there are other ways of doing it:

https://www.cnet.com/uk/how-to/how-to-c ... o-your-tv/

Essentially you can buy the Apple AV cable and it should do the job if you got a relatively new Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad. if your telly doesn't have HDMI then there's an older composite cable available, but that's really for the old-style Apple connector (so much older Apple devices).

So, in essence, you can always do what you want to do but it'll cost you the price of a cable at least, which probably isn't cheap, but it'll be cheaper than an Apple TV.

Thanks. The iPad is already working fine, though the useful screen size means I - and family - rarely need to transfer to the main screen.
If the iPod is similar to integrate when I doubt I will have a problem.

Of course I might have to get hold of a remote keyboard as the touch screen size will cause issues, unless there is something that plugs in directly.

What does chromecast do that my android tablet doesnt? Dunno what it is? My tablet casts video to my tv and i can cast my screen to the tv also (dunno why anyone would need to do that though). So is chromecast a thing that enables tvs to connect to wifi?
Also when did they bring out Apple tv's? WTF?

Apple TV is a box, Stan - it connects to your telly. It's a bit like Amazon Fire Stick, only a LOT better if you want a connected home.

No idea what Chromecast is. CH might know.

No idea about Apple TV, but I think I've seen them at customer's houses for over three years. Black flat cube box and silver remote.

The Chromecast range allow streaming of signals, audio, video and now 4K / UHD content from android and computers to the large screen without the device itself requiring power for the duration of the casting. Much like Bluetooth and wifi, the latter is less hungry on the batteries.

The interface is quite friendly, just one icon on the device to press, with maybe a name to select if you have more than one in the house.

The High definition version was in Curry's before Black Friday at £18, leads and psu included, though it can happily take power and run from the sub port on the back of the tv.

Im updating to 10.2 and it says a spare 26GB of memory so it may be the 32GB version.

Oh, and it was £80 with the flip cover.
