The official announcement of Silent Hill: Homecoming named the protagonist as Alex Shepherd, a war veteran who returns home from an overseas tour of duty to find that his father and younger brother are missing, and his mother has gone into catatonia. Alex begins to search for his brother, leading him to Silent Hill after searching his hometown of Shepherd's Glen, where he will have to traverse real world areas covered in fog, and also the "Otherworld" version of the same maps.[7] EGM magazine confirmed that there will be a female supporting character named Elle, who is an old school friend of Alex. It is unknown whether she will be a playable character at the moment. A trucker speculated to be Travis Grady of Silent Hill: Origins also appears to transport Alex to Silent Hill.[8] [9]

Combat in the game will take into account Alex's experience as a soldier, and the psychological aspects of other installments of the game will have a part in Homecoming. Confirmed enemies in the game include the nurses and a new androgynous creature called "Siam", as well as "Schism", a humanoid with a massive, seemingly pointed head split down the middle, and "Smog", an emaciated corpse covered in boils who spews poisonous gas which resembles the Lying Figure from Silent Hill 2. The game play will feature real time wounds that show up on both Alex and his enemies. New fighting techniques will be offered as way for Alex to deal with enemies, including grappling and evasive maneuvers. Enemies will have upgraded artificial intelligence, adding new ways to attack or avoid enemies. The game engine used allows all this, and also incorporates realistic physics. For example, if the player bumps into a table, the table itself will move as well as any objects on it. Such interactions with anything in the environment can bring a monster's attention to Alex.

It is rumored that the developers are once again planning to create multiple endings based on the way players do things in the game, continuing the tradition of the other games in the Silent Hill series. Acts of aggression, kindness and interactions with other people met in the game will impact how it ends

No! It has to be PS2 or Wii.

Or I could by a PS3 just so I could get the game - don't think OH will go for that somehow

Use the Bluray player as your sales pitch to the other half, it worked for me.

There's quite a few decent games coming out between now and the end of the year, it's going to get a bit expensive.

OH bought me Homecoming, borrowing the brat's PS3.

Only played it last 2 nights, but in true silent hill style, I've already been screaming, swearing, jumping and throwing the controller across the room

I got the game a few weeks back now, and it's not a bad game at all. :)

By the way, have you found the Laser Gun yet. I have, and it makes hard mode stupidly easy.

Ah Scarlett... She is such a little monster to kill.

But she isn't infallable. The secret is...

spoiler:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
If her leg so much as twitches - block or dodge

But my major tip is use the steel pipe / crowbar (if you found it.) to bust up her legs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

That'll make her easier to kill - then when that's done, wait for her to try and jump on you - then dodge again. While she struggles to get up, go right up to her to deal mucho damage. Later, rinse and repeat. :D : :sir:

But if you thought Scarlett was tough, wait till you see the last boss. (I think it's name is Amnion.)

Thanks Gunner, I did find the crowbar, but didn't save, then next time we played we missed it!

Hardly any life left, so may have to start all over again :banghead:

That sucks donkeys, True Red. I've been there before, only I was all the way in the sewers before realising I hadn't had enough health packs to continue. (The Schism things knocked my health for six when I first come across them.)
