Thought this may be of interest for the photography enthusiasts on here. 1TB of Free storage is enough for a shit load of photos.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22608122

Yahoo has redesigned its Flickr photo-sharing service, offering users up to 1TB of storage without a fee.

The revamp also allows users to host longer video clips and higher-resolution photos, and a new app has been launched for Android devices.

I couldn't imagine uploading 1TB of pics. I don't think I'll live long enough :)

Might be useful for those with cable broadband and mega upload speeds though :thumb:

Yes, could take a while. My upload speed is around 10Mb. Not sure how long it would take to upload 1TB at that rate?

Fibre is being rolled out around the country. Not fibre to your house, but fibre to the cabinet and normal copper line for the last bit. If you're fairly close to the street cabinet you can get 80Mb down/20Mb up if you're willing to pay for it. My 40/10 connection with Sky is £20/month.

Still, even if your upload speed isn't that brilliant it's still good for sharing photos and not having to worry about running out of storage. Apparently at 6.5 megapixels it equates to over half a million pics :eek4:

Also quite good as a backup option, should last the rest of your life, or at the rate I take photos, around 5,000 years

Well yeah, can't blame them for that though. They need to make money somehow. I use adblock plus on my browser, so don't see any ads anyway :thumb:

You have to really. Some websites really take the piss with intrusive ads. A few normal ads fine......intrusive flash ads, poorly coded sites/ads where they obscure what you're trying to look at........no thanks :banghead:

I use adblock :thumb:

Occasionally I open the Web up in IE, instead of firefox, where there's no adblock and it's a horrible experience. There's ads everywhere. Yukerama!!!!

The only problem with using adbkock is that if everyone did then it would be pretty much the end of free websites. I feel a bit of a hypocrite tbh........ I want to use websites for free, but I block their only possible income stream from me. As I say though it's the intrusive ads that are everywhere I can't stand. If they didn't exist I wouldn't bother blocking.

No adverts on here anymore. I took them off a couple of years ago. Smeggy's will always remain free and no ads. :)

Some people have no problem with ads and companies will pay to have their ads targetted at those. If you hate ads and don't want them then you're not going to affect the income streams.

Ads thrust at people who don't want them can have an adverse affect on sales to those people IMO.

I use AVforums and if you use an ad-blocker there they don't let you see anything, been like that for a couple of years now. Though the ads aren't too bad really.

I'm surprised more sites don't do the same thing though.

DS seems to be fine with an ad-blocker but people with ipads get big ads each side of the screen and can''t read the text. Dunno if they do ad-blockers for ipads.

Hmmm, they don't seem to have many ads on at the moment. Just logged on using Chrome (so sloooow) and there are no more really - no ad-block on there.

Maybe they changed policy ?

Can't find a thing to allow me turn Adblock Plus off on Firefox now.

Yay to no ads :thumb: You must take a bit of a hit on hosting/domain name then. Hopefully it doesn't cost a fortune.

It's not too bad. I spend a helluva lot more on wine a week  - The ads offset some of it, but I run smeggys for fun and ads aren't fun so they had to go :)

I should hope so. If it cost more than your wine bill you would probably be looking at bankruptcy :D
