Sadly cable is not available in my road. I'm stuck with copper wire too many Km's from the exchange. Any large downloads ( rare ) I Leave running overnight

You can get better speeds from a dongle.

Those usb recievers that connect to 3g networks. More expensive than getting it from the phoneline though. :shrug:

I've not really noticed people digging up the roads anywhere for fibreoptics. Well on main roads I think and here and there but I assume they just feed it through one hole to another. You do sleep odd hours and they could have done it quick. Best check by putting your postcode into Virgin's website.

No cable I'm afraid. They would have to dig up the road as well.

To be honest I'm not that bothered at the moment. Surfing the Web is fast enough, the porn streams OK and the odd occassion I need a huge update to a program I Leave it over night.

I pay 10 a month for fibre large from talktalk. Should be 15 but they fucked up and they gave it to me for 10 a month for 12 months. so thats a saving of £60 this year as compo for pissing me about. Im happy with that :thumb:

Nice one :thumb: Even at 15 quid it's a good deal. Do you suffer any slowdowns at peak times at all?

Nothing at all. Wife and kids are on it all the time, and since we had fibre at the last place, and here as well, never had any bottlenecks. Its always been smooth with never so much as a blip. Never had any dropouts either. I know alot have (including me) badmouthed talktalk, and with just reason, but once its been up and running, i've never had any bother with any of my services. It was just the hassle of getting them here in the first place!

Thats true Res. Thats why I said earlier on here that I will do my contract with them, and switch supplier. I dont mind spending a few extra quid for excellent customer service. To be fair, based on the installs I do every week, I get more Sky installs than anything else. They seem to be flavour of the month at the moment, and to be fair, I've been a sky TV customer for well over 10 years, and the customer service has been second to none, thats why I stay.

Yes, I'm with Sky Gumbs. There first line broadband support can be pretty awful. Once you get past them it's not too bad. Luckily last time I phoned I managed to get the direct number for fibre support out of them. So I can skip the script monkeys now if anything goes wrong.
