Simple Answer... NO!!!

Iam bordering 31 years of age.

I am type II Diabetic. Tried alsorts of drugs to control the Diabetes. The best drug was Gliclazide. Was taken off it 12 months ago. It did a FANTASTIC job of managing my sugars by literally 'Squeezing' the Pancreas and secreting double the insulin.

Now, i'm on Metformin. It works, doesn't kill my pancreas so much, but its now paired with a new drug (trade name Reductil) which is a weight reduction drug.

Only available upon prescription from a GP and 2 weekly checkups from nurse. It has common side effects of raised heart rate along with high blood pressure,

Now went for a check up a few days ago. Been on the drug for 2 weeks. My heart rate is a little higher, but the blood pressure is the same as pre drugs.

Point is, this is a last resort for me. I was 109 KG when i started the drugs, and 2 weeks later i was 106.5 KG

I am now 105.7 KG

I'm lopsing weight and the drugs, they make you feel full after half a sandwich! paired with diet drinks, less ciggies (if you smoke) you lose weight.

The regular checkups keep you on track and you get 2 strikes. If you havent lost enough weight ( i think its 4 lbs a month) they give you another chance. If again you havent lost anything they take you off the drug. Simple as.

I've already lost 2.5KG which ensures my drug continuation

Once i get to my ideal weight i'm gunna do what i can to maintain the weight. The drugs i'm on also help me to learn, ie a sandwich is adequate, not 3 packets of crisps, 2 mars bars, a litre of coke and a kebab!!!

Comments??

I was 17 stone 1 pound in March last year and got down to 14.7 by Sept, I kept it there until my nastiness with the plod in March this year and started to eat for comfort and I got back to over 17st, I am now on the diet again and in the low 16st.
I hate my weight and the current level means if I need to get a heart swap I would be too heavy for the op, just so hard to balance my need to lose weight for my heart and my need to eat for my head during periods of depression

I am - I can eat as much as I like and not put any weight on. But then again, I have Gilbert's Syndrome meaning my body isn't good at retaining fat. I get rid of it every dump I take. But there is a bumside to this: I will always look unhealthy and a little bit like a drug addict.

But summing everything up, I'm quite happy with my weight.

I was diagnosed with that many years ago in the late 1980's, haven't thought of that in years

What is Gilberts Syndrome??

Not meaning it as a bad thing, but if it prevents my body from retaining Fat, im quids in as i dont have to pay 40 odd quid every time i need to see doc, 20 odd quid everytime i see the nurse.

Is it contracted, or inherited? theres so many syndromes out there my brains fried!!!

Gilbert's Syndrome is genetic thing. It's where my body just can't deal with fat and just poos it out. However, there is a version of Gilbert's Syndrome which is much nastier and thankfully, rarer where people can't deal with fat at all, and end up literally starving to death despite they could be eating like horses. (The nastier version is supposed to kill people before they hit 2 years old - so I really lucked out there.)

I'm certainly feeling a lot less sorry for myself having read that. Being a little short of cash is nothing in comparison!

Yes I am very happy with my weight. I can eat whatever i want within reason and remain the same weight. Although considering I walk around 2 miles a days, thats not suprising.

Yes I am very happy with my weight.

I am slightly chubby and I like it that way. When I was young I was very very skinny and I used to wish I could be fatter - but no matter what happened I couldn't get fatter. As I have got older I have filled out and I am very happy about that.

I am not happy with my weight but then i never have been, i am currently over weight at the moment. I eat relatively healthy and do take exercise but other things take priority at the moment.

In my teens i actually went gym crazy. I think its best to describe i got addicted to the place. I had muscles and even a six pack but even then i wasn't happy. My thigh muscles were that large they actually rubbed against each other wearing out my trousers  . So maybe that's why its not a priority at the moment. Part of me is worried i will get addicted to the gym again, plus i don't know what weight would make me happiest. I want to lose a little weight but i prefer to do that using exercise and eating in regular life. Not going out of my way with special diets and exercise regimes. As then i am more lightly to stay that weight.

I'm the same, That's why I said in another post I NEVER weigh myself cos i'd end up getting obsessed plus I don't know what weight is suitable etc. I just go with what I look like or how my clothes feel. If they feel a bit tight I think " right, get a grip"

I was bigger a few years ago cos I was on that contraceptive injection and my hormones were all to fuck  I've never ever been super slim anyway but I used to go to the gym more when I was bigger yet lost the weight now I don't go as much
