Sea level wasn't high enough for London. The Houses of parliament still pokes out of the water.

Never seen such scaremongering.

Isn't the sea level supposedly rising by less than 40mm a year and even that's according to the pro man made global warming lobby.

Their 'simulation' just seems to be that everywhere is going to be under 20ft or so of water

I put Ben Nevis in. It seems they are expecting 1,344+metres of sea level rise    Luckily in Fort William they aren't totally under water. It's a miracle

I think it's linked to the Antarctica big melt, billions of tons of ice apparently. That would do a great deal of harm. Link that with the gulf stream going north instead of east would be a contributing factor also but I've seen no proof so it's all a bit speculative, a what if scenario............

Smeggy, first thing I thought when I saw the House

Well yes, the point I was getting at though is that a 4,000ft+ mountain is underwater on the 'simulation', but the town at the bottom of it is only 20ft deep in water

The simulation just seems to cover all land in 20ft (ish) of water no matter how high that land is above sea level. I'm thinking a 10 year old school kid could have made a better attempt at it :)

Fascinating. So the Channel Islands were mainland France? Scilly Isles also? Isle of Wight?

As interesting as it was to see my street under 10ft of water, Never mind the ice melting, what about the tons of space debris that lands on the earth every year, Is that not raising the sea levels as well?
Whatever's happening to our planet, talking about it won't cure it, neither will the 'scientists'. :chin:

Well I would imagine it randomly lands on land as well as sea, so on average it's raising land levels too. Propabbly by about 0.0001 nanometres per century. :)

Got me interested now. Must work it out.

Apparently 100tons of space debris lands on the earth each year.

The Earth has an area of 510,072,000,000,000m2

Therefore the amount of debris per Sq metre is 100/510,072,000,000,000

= 0.000000000000196050754 tons

Assuming a density of 1000kg/m3 ( which is a fairly accurate estimate for the stuff ) then 1 ton of stuff would raise levels by 1metre.

Therefore 0.000000000000196050754 tons of stuff would raise levels by 0.000000000000196050754 metres

0.000 000 000 000 196050754 tons

= 0.196050754 picometres or 0.000196050754 nanometres.

So that would equal

0.0196050754 nanometres per century.

I was out by a factor of 200 but not bad given the huge order of magnitude it could have been. :) :)
