We watched that too, when the kids were nippers. I had them look at it through bundles of old photo negatives, then read the inches of newspaper columns devoted to damning stoopid mums to hell for letting their kids watch an eclipse through bundles of negatives !

I remember the 1999 one. Me and Mrs S were camping up in the Lake District and we have a great photo somewhere of the eclipse's 'shadow' on the side of our tent.

Weirdly, on the day of the eclipse, it was a beautiful hot sunny day and the rest of the holiday, it pissed it down like it had never rained before!

Yeah, the whole west side of the country really. Prevailing weather coming in from the Atlantic.

Indeed. Strangely though, the rain didnt bother us and in many ways it made the holiday even more breathtaking. It was very warm and everything was very green and lush.

Fab place! :thumb:

Yeah, I like the Lakes.

If you want to go somewhere with even more breathtaking scenery then get yourself up to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. A lot less holiday makers than the Lakes as well.
