There will be an extra special show in the night sky this month when a rare supermoon lunar eclipse will occur for the first time since 1982.

The cosmic event will take place on the night of Sept. 27 when two periodic events -- supermoons and lunar eclipses -- will happen at the same time, making for a rare coincidence.

There was a big bright moon last weekend, plainly visible on Saturday night but clouded by the 'official' day, Sunday.

It already looks beautiful.

Think i shall stay up for this one. 03:00-04:00 appears to be the best time to see it.

Was that taken earlier on? Suppressed EXIF data makes me suspicious :hmmm: , but then I suppose you suppress any extraneous data in case case the NSA pick up on it. :D

I've just checked my camera and still seems fully charged and with my longest lens on it 100-300 (so max 600mm equiv on my camera), will see what I get later on.

Moon has been visible all evening though with some light clouds floating about. :):

I took it about 8:50.

Only reason there's no EXIF is because I used Facebook to host it and FB strips out EXIF.

here's the EXIF ...

I'm waiting to go out and take some when the moon is eclipsed and red

still clear here thankfully. It's almost full eclipse now :thumb: - gonna need some high ISO, longer shutter speeds fro the fully red section.
