ITV1 +1 launches October 1

ITV will launch ITV1 +1 on October 1. However, the channel will not be available in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands (as separate ITV franchises operate there).

GMTV will not be broadcast on ITV1 +1.

I wonder if the BBC and Five will launch timeshift channels for their terrestrial services?

I think this new station is going to be an Epic Fail on ITV's part. Hardly anyone watches ITV in the first place.

Programmes such as X-Factor, Coronation Street and Emmerdale pull in high audiences, but overall, I think ITV's content is dire. Shame, because ITV used to broadcast a variety of popular programming that pulled in high audiences.

Perhaps ITV should consider remaking some old classics?

I think they're probably the only watched shows on ITV barring Harry Hill and Ant'n'Dec. Perhaps the station should invest in some new programming - they surely can't rely on repeats forever.

I forgot to include Harry Hill. He is very popular but ITV is considering axing TV Burp. Sky One may poach Harry Hill if ITV decides to axe him.

ITV should revive Crown Court.

I'm really enjoying the 'New Bill' and The Fixer starts again tonight, quality drama. I'm a big fan of cop shows and ITV make the best.

I can't get into the new Bill format. The background music makes the programme come across as a poor imitation of CSI. I also loathe most of the current cast.

Too many old favourites have been sacrificed for the introduction of 'sexy characters'. There's also way too much glamour in the programme.

Bring back Frank Burnside, Jim Carver, Dave Quinnan, June Ackland and Gina Gold. They were characters who made The Bill worth watching.

If you're a Sky TV viewer you can view all ITV regional variations via the Add Channels facility. This includes ITV1 +1. ;)

I think a lot of Sky TV viewers feel the same about ITV1!

I enjoy watching ITV3 and ITV4. Some tremendous classics are shown on these channels.

They're thinking of axing TV Burp!? That show is indispensable to ITV. If they lost that, they'd lose half of their Saturday audience.

Yes, ITV is considering axing TV Burp due to the cost of production. Sky1 has already expressed an interest with taking over the programme, with Harry Hill remaining the host.

 Cheap show with overpaid host?

Nothing I can think of that I watch on ITV, so now I can miss it twice over. :)

Yeah it's really expensive to edit clips of already made programmes. :boing: :boing: :hello: :hello:

btw- I'm pleased about ITV+1. I wish all the BBC channels would have +1 channels too

A few years ago a BBC Official was interviewed in a Satellite TV magazine. The interviewee said that the BBC had no current plans to launch any timeshift channels because the corporation wants to encourage viewers to use BBC iPlayer.

Not everyone has access to the Internet therefore I think it would make sense if timeshift versions of BBC One and Two were launched. Same with Five, seeing as Fiver and Five US have timeshift channels.
