Or buy one of those new fangled video recorder devices.

There's two sides to this. Some people argue that timeshift channels are invaluable because Sky+, V+, TiVo, the Internet, and of course the good old-fashioned VCR can record TV programmes.

I think timeshift channels are valuable. They're convenient and serve a good purpose.

The advertisers would probably prefer people watch timeshift channels instead of recording the programs. People fast forward through the ads when recorded

I have started to Sky+ many of my favourite TV programmes so I can skip through the commercials. ;)

I record quite a bit of stuff on SKy+. Many of the programs I watch on sky, the documentaries only last 40 minutes an hour the other 20 minutes is adverts and some trailers. Not one of the adverts I've ever seen on sky has purveyed a product that I'm remotely interested in. That extra 20 minutes could be spent enriching my brain ( caveats of establishment bias excepted ) instead of rotting it watching/listening to mind killing adverts.

GMTV will not be broadcast on ITV1 +1.

I wonder if the BBC and Five will launch timeshift channels for their terrestrial services?

Surely it'll be available mationwide via Sky EPG?

In fact, because STV have dropped so many ITV1 programmes, ITV1 should launch a channel on Freeview in Scotland...or buy ads on STV promoting ITV1's availability on Sky!

ITV1 +1 will not be available on the EPG in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. The only way to view the channel in these parts of the UK will be by manually tuning in via Other Channels. The same applies for viewers in the Republic of Ireland.

ITV postpones ITV1+1 launch

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcastin ... aunch.html

ITV has postponed the launch of ITV1+1 "until further notice", it has emerged.

The announcement comes just one day after electronic programme guide data for the channel appeared on a transponder ahead of its proposed October 1 launch.

It is understood that concerns over the Contract Rights Renewal mechanism, which seeks to protect media buyers from ITV's dominance in the UK's commercial television market, are behind the decision.

Earlier this week, the Competition Commission proposed adjusting CRR to take into account ITV1+1 and the upcoming ITV1 HD channel so that ITV was not disadvantaged by the full-time launch of either service; however, it warned that any changes to CRR were "far from clear cut".
