Smeggy Says: The Apprentice starts tonight. Many of you are fans. I Just like to fantasise about the 'corporate women' so I don't really watch it. much. Anyway this was a superb thread so I thought I turn it into the official Apprentice thread.

And so it starts. Or it does on Wednesday the 26th March, any road. "But who are the candidates?" I hear you shout. My reply would be "shut up shouting, I'm not deaf! :x " You're right though, we need to know. The BBC will tell us all, which is a good thing, when you think about it, seeing as they're airing the show. It would be a little odd if the History Channel did it. The site can be found here but because I like you, I'll paste profiles and pics here, to save you having to go on a clicky-fest. After all, no-one wants that on a Good Friday afternoon, do they? Especially with the threat of snow around...

In alphabetical order then....

Self-employed Raef Bjayou runs his own import and export company. Raef believes he has the charisma and cross-the-board appeal needed to win The Apprentice. A public schoolboy and former estate agent, he has worked in various sectors of the property industry. He has spent two years working abroad; the first in overseas property sales in America and throughout the Caribbean, and the second as a volunteer on Ethiopian charity projects. Raef is a life member of the Exeter University debating society as well as a member of the National Geographic Society. He includes spending time with his girlfriend, acting, lawn tennis, antiquarian book collecting and cognac among his interests.

Jenny Celerier

Image

"If you're sitting on the fence, you're taking up too much space."

Jenny is a stickler for detail who enjoys being a successful woman in a masculine environment. A single mum to Simon, who is now aged 17, she has combined her maternal role with a successful sales career. Before she began raking in awards, which have included being named Salesperson Of The Year three times, Jenny was a student. She retrained in the business world after a stint in Social Work during the 1990s. 2006 was a year of reappraisal for Jenny; she contracted meningitis and fought to contradict doctors who thought she would never sustain independent living again.

Qualifications LLB Law degree from Kings College London, Bar exams
Home Town Shoreham-by-Sea

"My father fought the hurdles of his working class upbringing to provide me with privileged education and luxury."

Born Nicholas Brown, this trainee barrister added the 'de Lacy' moniker, inspired by his grandmother, to his own name because he felt it sounded more sophisticated. Although not born into aristocracy, Nicholas feels most comfortable in the role of an artistic, country-hopping lord. A keen fan of amateur dramatics, he supplements his earnings with a mixture of artistic endeavour and property development. He is exceptionally proud of his academic achievements. Single but with a girlfriend, Nicholas lists his interests as painting, visiting galleries, sunbathing and reading in the bath surrounded by candles.

A trained lawyer, Sara decided to 'save the family company' - selling cars - by taking over the reins from her brothers and doing her family proud. She re-invented the family business by encouraging them to branch out into selling Japanese performance cars. Sara built up huge debts as a student and now hopes to follow in her father's footsteps - at 25 he was a self-made millionaire. Sara is single and her interests include socialising and baking; on the adventurous front she recently challenged herself to drive from Leicester to Mumbai in seven days.

Born in Singapore, she began her career in Risk Management before undertaking various roles involving I.T. in the financial sector. Single Lucinda now lives in Edinburgh and lists Dr Oliver Sacks - the subject of the Robert De Niro film Awakenings - as her hero. Describing herself as impulsive and intolerant but affable and passionate, Lucinda is a keen aromatherapist, harpist and scuba diver. She once turned down the chance to be a scuba diving body double in a James Bond film because it would have interrupted her university studies.

After a year in advertising sales back home, she ran her own successful advertising business in Brussels before taking up her current role, working within the fashion industry. Jennifer comes from a very large feisty family and isn't afraid to have her voice heard. Born in Manchester but brought up in Birmingham, she is determined to do well and prove she can be successful despite being heavily dyslexic, just like her business hero, Richard Branson. Currently employed in business liaison, Lindi runs sales training courses and advises on IT legislation. In contrast, she is also a qualified aerobics instructor and has a background in drama and the performing arts. One of Lindi's pet hates is lazy people with no ambition.

Recently reaching the level of premiership and area manager for Halifax PLC, he has worked in banking throughout his adult life, beginning as manager of a small underperforming branch of the Nat West and moving to larger branches from there. Outside his working life, Kevin takes a keen interest in the financial markets, and considers himself to be ultra-competitive. He also reckons he is fun to be around and excels when challenged. As a child, he had an entrepreneurial spirit; starting a mobile tuck shop business before selling the toiletries his dad brought back from hotels!

Simon Smith ***Fired: week four***

As a civvy, he went on to work as both a customer accounts manager at a bank and a technical recruitment consultant before taking up his current role as a satellite engineer four years ago. Living with his girlfriend and new baby, Simon hopes to win The Apprentice by winning every task because of his ability to think on his feet. He says he doesn't suffer fools gladly and hates management speak. "I am single minded and will manipulate others if necessary to get to the prize."

Born in London, Michael started his working life as a silver service waiter before settling on his current role as a telesales executive. Describing himself as unscrupulous in business, he wishes he'd left school at sixteen and foregone university to begin his lucrative career earlier. Describing himself as a 'social chameleon' he believes he can get on with everyone but admits to jealousy when others are more successful than him. Away from work, Michael enjoys partying, meeting women, boxing and football.

Ian Stringer ***Fired: week three***

Image

"There are two kinds of people in the world. Winners and... I don't know how to spell the other word. I can't say it..."

Ian was born in Blackpool and currently lives in Flitwick where he works as a channel manager for a computer company. He began his working career on the shop floor at Dixons before being promoted to store manager and then onto the store's headquarters where he worked in staff development, including the rolling out of e-learning and innovative training courses. Shazia thinks that she is underestimated and is desperate to prove her worth. One of eleven children, she believes she is a good communicator with lots of initiative, but worries that others may see her as aggressive, especially since what she's thinking is often revealed on her face. She feels that her arty image belies strong business skills. A strict Muslim, Shazia fasts throughout Ramadan. She is single and enjoys DIY and socialising through a social network group.

He believes he works with integrity but admits he is angered by freeloaders and loafers. When he's not working he enjoys water sports including knee-boarding, and going to the gym. He's single but has a girlfriend.

Claire Young

Image

Age 28
Career Senior Retail Buyer
Qualifications BSc in Equine Science, Bristol University
Home Town Tooting, London

Johannesburg-born Claire Young is nicknamed the Rottweiler because of her ability to go after whatever she wants. Convent educated, she went through a year of medical school, undertook a degree in Equine Science, and completed three seasons as a Club 18-30 holiday rep in Magaluf before finding her niche as a Category Buying Manager, which involves ensuring the shelves of Superdrug are stocked with the right hair care products. Out of hours, Claire's many hobbies include horse-riding, movie-going, the theatre, and cooking.

And there you have it; the candidates for Sir Alan's wrath this year. I can't wait! :yippee: They do look quite a bunch with a good mix of personalities; it will be interesting to see how they all get on, or don't as the case may very well be.

I guess he's this year's Adam; the likeable but cocky northerner who annoys the other contestants. :D There isn't anyone who jumps out at me as yet, but I dare say I'll have a favourite on Wednesday. I can't say I find anyone particularly attractive either. :| If pushed, I'd say Claire but I won't be able to make an accurate assessment until I've seen them properly. There doesn't seem to be any eye-catching guys either; last year there was Adam but no particular female I found attractive. It's a reversal this year! :|

You can watch an introduction to them here plus there's preview videos there too.

Crikey. at first glance, and probably becuase theirs a piccie of a stubbly Sugar right above your post, I read Alan at first. :)

Lucinda Ledgerwood looks about 51 not 31.

Tottywise it's a tossup ( or toss over ) between

Jenny Celerier = who sadly has a chin full of concrete

or

Helene Speight - who looks like she's storing nuts for winter.

However I refuse to fancy any of them until they smile!!! :mad1: :D

Actually, Helene's not too bad at all, now that you mention it. :)

Is it just me or does Ian Stringer look a bit like Will Young? :|

I can't wait for this to start. :o I really enjoyed last year's show; Katie Hopkins made me want to set about my telly with a large blunt instrument though. :x

Snap! I only started watching it last year as well; I didn't think I'd enjoy it but a mate who is a massive fan of the show persuaded me to watch it and I was beyond pleasantly surprised. I loved it. I really can't wait for this series to start!

Tre was awesome, wasn't he?! He really made me laugh! :D

I could NOT stand Katie Hopkins though. :x I wanted to set fire to my telly whenever she appeared on screen! :x

Just over a day to go until the new series starts! :yippee:

Did anyone watch "The Apprentice - You're Fired" on BBC2 straight after the main show? I think Adrian Chiles is brilliant, despite his West Brom affiliation! :D

Raef to win! He spoke a lot of sense for me.

Glad the barrister got fired, his man/boy fluff moustache made me cringe.
He would be a natural MP, full of shit and clueless.
