Ive been debating getting one myself although I love my paper books but after downloading the kindle app on my phone Im going to get one! I can have a book in 20 seconds and a lot of them are free plus its less bulky which means I can take it on holidays and it may help my bookshelf from collasping!

I've used the Kindle for PC for a while now but I find it a little tiring on the eyes somehow. I suppose you are looking much more intently than usual browsing etc. Much better on the Samsung smartphone, using the sepia setting.

Though I rarely use it for more than half an hour at a time - if I did I'd probably get the proper Kindle.

Yes, fair enough reading all those Mills & Boon novels on a small screen could become tiresome :D

Miss Smeggy and I was were just talking about Kindles. My uncles Ophthalmologist was saying that backlit screens aren't so good on the eyes and that's why the kindles are much better. I suppose if you are goign to read on the PC, is to tuirn the brightness down somewhat. Most screens are too bright anyway. I've set mine to between 1.8 and 2.0

for image editing, but I might try it turned down for reading

I'd actually never noticed that there is a brightness option in the Kindle for PC settings. Saves mucking about with the display to set and reset brightness. :)

I mainly read on the android in bed in a (usually) futile attempt to get to sleep. I have the options on that set to lowest brightness as it is totally dark. Works pretty well actually. It has an advantage over the Kindle in that situation because I think it doesn't work in the dark (just like a normal paperback). :):
