I am and I want to get an article published this years at least, working on the beginnings of a book as well, going to use the time on my hands this year more than I have ever done before.

beginnings of a book
- sounds interesting - can you tell us a bit more?

It's really just exercise, write a story and then as you do the course you go over the writing and improve on it, hopefully. My story is about someone who has bad dreams but they go away after he takes a life, after a month the dreams come back and he has to do it again and again and he needs to find more and more of a buzz each time he kills.
I have three kills still to write, six already written, and then I want to add a story of the policeman following him to what I have written already.
It's just a few pages per chapter so far but that will grow, long term project.

am not sure about that, the wording that leads up to the event can create the bedroom scene without you being taken through the door so to speak. I have known plenty of stories that can easily be classed as erotic due to what you create in your mind but are not graphic in showing the explicit detail.

yeah ok, fair enough...was kind of thinking aloud, as to what a definition might be...

maybe romantic fiction is more about the beginning the middle and the end - the narrative , whereas the erotic is more about mood and senses - does there even need to be a storyline?

the best softcore an hardcore erotic fiction thrives on a good strong basic story , :thumb:

I used to hate the mechanical interpretations of some pulp writers thoughts on sex /love making /lust
made me wonder if they had ever had a good shag in their lifes ..   :thumb:

I used to read about *cocks pistoning in an out of a wet ***ts*...in porn mags .. :mad1:

Some of you may know ...but ..

I used write short stories for Mens mags in the late 80s , Paul Raymond publishing ,  :eek4:

wow Mike - I'm impressed.

And i dont thinkyou should feels its a dirty little secret - theres stuff in these romance books ive posted thats similar - and Mills andBoon dont consider themselves dirty. And they are certainly more raunchy than you might think -

its like furby wrote in an earlier thread - about womens sexual needs being therapy, whe for a man its just smut - women get "romantic fiction" for titilation, and its absolutely socially acceptable.

Reminds me a wee bit of Queen Victoria not believing that lesbians exist ( if thats actually true) - like women dont read Mills and Boon for the dirty bits....just the romance!

I think I'll have to have a go at this Mills and Boon scam. Put some of suitable occupations, locations into a hat and make up a story about the ones that get picked - e.g binman and toilet cleaner in Scunthorpe - you get the idea - I think that one would work well actually, so no need for the hat. :):

Will adopt a nom-de-plume of Carbara Bartland I think. :)

I don't remember a lot of my dreams but the ones I do recall are not very pleasant at all. I do really enjoy cop TV shows so I think thats where it's from , having seen every episode of all 3 CSI's really helps with a crime stories.

Funny enough I think I was ...am ..lol

a short *wank* story has to involve so much more than , get your knickers off....an shagging...an cumming ..lol

You have set up the readers mindset, you have throw so much into so lil time an *set your stall up* as they say an then , involve the players, get them known, then good hard erotic sex, then either finish with a good punchy/ or twist ending.. I liked a funny good end/ climax (sic)

martyn20

I think to write this genre or anything within this area you need to be romantic at heart. You also need to be open about sexuality in general. If your the sort to giggle at the word penis, labia or purple headed love truncheon! Then this may not be the genre for you. Actually purple headed love truncheon is quite funny

of course there needs to be fun, after all sex when you look closely is very funny and bizarre. We all seem to crave what is essentially exchanging bodily fluids. The mating rituals and effort a person put in to do this is also comical. So humour is littered in sex, no escaping it.
