I liked those, along with Carry on Matron - with Ken Cope as a nurse...bloody scream that was - and Carry on Cleo. Some of the dialogue is classic.

" infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me!"
I particularly liked Peter B. in CO up the Khyber, and all of them in the last scene when the Burpas are revolting!!!

Ken Williams" Come back you fools, there's nothing to be afraid of" (glances at men with kilts lifted)" Ooooer, I dunno tho'"

"The tendency to turn human judgments into divine commands makes religion one of the most dangerous forces in the world.”

I'm reading it at the moment actually! It's on my bedside table as I type this :) I've had it ages, but not read it for about 10 years. I'm really enjoying it 2nd time round. A very good read indeed, hilarious and tragic at the same time.

My favourite Carry on... is probably Carry on Abroad, full of excellent performances, especially Kenneth Connor & June Whitfield ("I tried it once, but didn't like it") :D

Also love At Your Convenience, Camping, Up the Khyber (fantastic double entendre!) and Cleo.

I think that was a line from "Carry on Cleo" with Amanda Barry as Cleo. Kenny Williams was Julius Caesar and it was HIS line.

Loved her in 'Sykes' too!

Hattie was married to John Le Mesurier

:chin: Many years ago my late husband told me he'd seen a blue movie (old fashioned word *blue*) Hattie was the main character and she was whipping guys.  This is going back years ago but still......

Peter Butterworth never got large parts, but he sure wrung the last drop of humour out of every line. :yippee:

A few years ago I bought all the carry ons fortnightly. Overall I think they're great. Strangely though Carry on Columbus wasn't included. My faves are Carry on Camping, Carry on Screaming, Carry on Abroad, Carry on don't lose your head, Carry on Dick. To be honest most of them are easy viewing and will remain a legend in comedy.
