Eastenders offends (some) Christians

Not sure if this should be here or under religion!

spoiler:

The storyline involving Max has apparently offended some Christians. I don't know the full details but, apparently, he is supposed to be dead but reappears 3 days later. Apparently, this mocks the resurrection at the holiest time of the year for Christians.

Are Eastenders guilty of deliberately trying to provoke? I can't believe anyone could be genuinely offended but, then, I'm not religious.

I'm not sure if he actually 'arises' on Easter Monday or we just find out he's alive or what.

But I reckon those offended Christians are reading too much into it.

i dont think they are trying to provoke...They probably think they are being spiritual in a modern cultural way, topical, and paying homage to a Great Story and Message.

It's coming yet for a' that, that Man to Man, the world o'er, shall brothers be for a' that. (Robert Burns)

Oh Dear. First anger over Betting Shops being Open. Second Anger of Ebroy Research and Now Anger over a soap storyline that has bugger all to do with religion.

Eater certainly brings out the best in it doesn't it?

A bit of a daft storyline. :( In any case, Jesus had it all done and dusted by first thing on a Sunday morning, :thumb: rather than 8.0pm on a Monday night.

That story ended... strangely.

I mean... really? He didn't seem to be that bothered in the end about what she did. What are the chances he will come back and get his revenge, somehow?

Or has he been scarred for life? :o

Yes, I'd say it's a bit of relationship ender, burying someone alive, even if you do dig them up afterwards.

I read a Dennis Wheatley novel when I was a child that featured being buried alive, the Ka of Gifford Hillary, I think. I tried to stop going to sleep for weeks afterwards, in case I woke up in a coffin! :eek4:

I wonder if that means Max might come back weird... I mean, his stairs already don't quite reach the attic as it is! :eek4:
