I didn't realise until today that you cannot join the police force if you are BNP member....
absolutely outrageous we live in a democracy, whatever people think of the BNP they are a politically recognised party, what right does any potential employer have to deny you the basic right to vote for whoever you wish without risking your job...?

Isnt the official employer of the Police force 'Her Majesty the Queen'?

If so, im sure there is an exemption where employees of the Crown are not permitted to be members of extreme Fascist organisations....

Its a bit like being a double agent.

You can still vote for the BNP if you're a cop, as long as you're not a member, but I agree with you. As a legal political party its members could technically become cabinet ministers but aren't allowed to be even low-level police officers. A bit bizarre that. However, if you're in the civil service at even a junior level then you need to seek permission to take part in political activity whilst senior bosses are effectively barred from doing so.

You could stop there, and it would still make sense.

Can you be a member of a communist party which seeks to overthrow the regime and replace it with a socialist utopia?

What's worrying about this is, as a copper, that you're allowed to be a member of a party that taht supports a racist state, but also allow's it's forieng and domestic policies to be formulated by people more loyal to a racist state ( thus treason AND racism ). I'm not kidding either.

So yes Stinky I agree with you. I think the BNP is a disgusting organisation, but then I think LibLabCon is also a disgusting organisation.

I support anyone's right to join a disgusting political party.

This highlights another reason why we are far from democracy in this country.

Heya Stinky, I'm very suprised you didn't know that. The BNP and I think members of the National Front aren't allowed into the police force mostly because they are expected to treat everyone they meet with respect regardless of race or skin colour. Unfortunately, or fortunately - depending on your point of view, members of the BNP and the National Front generally don't treat someone of a darker skin tone with the same amount of respect they would give a white person. In other words: the police are supposed to be politically neutral and the top brass don't trust the BNP. (They do have very strong views and are passionate about them.)

But you do highlight a very interesting double standard about how ultra-left winged folks are exempt from this ban. If members of the BNP are excluded against, why not the BNP's left wing counterpart. (If it has one.)

If you aren't willing to stand behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
